Jet Front

Updated: Aug 4, 2022

Who do you turn to when you're facing a dominant Big Red Nebraska offense? Well if your Rob Ryan it's your dad Buddy. In spring 1998 Buddy said run the "Jet," front to stop the Big Red option. In 1998 they held them to 215 total and 73 on the ground.

At the bottom of this blog there is a link to the article. Rob still ran it at times against the chargers when LT was there because they based out of 12. Based on old TCU defense against OU from the 1940's. After reviewing some film and conversations with Robert Rubel, a OU GA at the time I found out Rex Ryan ran it while at Oklahoma and in the NFL as well. At Oklahoma Rex called it the "Blake" front in honor of Head Football Coach John Blake. It is still often a defense option offenses will see and have plans to attack.
